Top 10 Longest Sixes in IPL History | All Seasons

Hitting massive sixes in the IPL is difficult for any hitter due to the large stadium boundaries. Some batsmen, on the other hand, have little trouble hitting such sixes. This demonstrates their batting prowess, which draws crowds to stadiums. These batsmen are actually called power hitters and allow fans to enjoy their game in a better way.

Albie Morkel of South Africa still retains the record for the longest six in IPL history, which he achieved in the 2008 season when he played for Chennai Super Kings. He blasted 125 meters long six to Pragyan Ojha.

Albie Morkel, Praveen Kumar, and Adam Gilchrist are the only players who have hit more than 120 meters long six in the history of IPL. In IPL 2022, Liam Livingstone set a record for the longest six of the season by hitting 117 meters six to Muhammad Shami. In this article, we will visualize the rest of the players who have hit the longest sixes in IPL history.

1. Albie Morkel

In the 2008 IPL season, Albie Morkel was a very active cricketer for Chennai Super Kings. He holds the record for the longest IPL six, 125 meters at Hyderabad Stadium. The unlucky bowler who faced that six was Pragyan Ojha from Decan Chargers. He smacked it so hard that it flew out of the stadium, forcing the umpire to replace it.

2. Praveen Kumar

Praveen Kumar is a Medium Pacer bowler recognized for his swing deliveries that cause problems for batsmen. However, he caused a problem for Lasith Malinga in the 2011 IPL season by hitting the longest six of the season. He hit 124 meters long six by playing for Kings Xi Punjab. This is still the longest six hit by any Indian batter across all formats of cricket. Despite the fact that Praveen Kumar only played in the IPL from 2008 to 2014, his record for hitting the longest six is still remembered by fans.

3. Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist played for IPL teams Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab from 2008 to 2012 and the bowler felt to face him due to his dangerous batting shots in IPL. In 2011, he hit 122M long six playing for King XI Punjab. He was the winning captain of the Deccan Chargers franchise in the 2009 season of IPL.

He is the only Australian hitter to make the top ten list of the IPL’s biggest sixes. When Charl Langeveldt tried a slower ball, Gilchrist was quite well set when the left-hander picked it up and pumped it high into the mountain air, over the corner, and then out of the ground.

4. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa was one of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ most productive players scoring the most runs in IPL.  He set numerous records for the Kolkata Knight Riders, the most notable of which was being a member of the KKR’s two-time winning team. However, his longest six records is with Royal Challengers Banglore (120m), whom he played for during the 2010 IPL season. When Robin Uthappa came in at no. 3, RCB were very well on their way to victory. He picked up Dwayne Bravo’s Variations while playing deep in his crease and smashed the ball over deep mid-wicket.

I’m sure KKR will miss their legend Gautam Gambhir, who helped them win 02 IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. In the 2013 IPL season, he hit the longest six of 117m for Kolkata Knight Riders in a match against S.Sreesanth of Rajasthan Royals. In that IPL season, he was one of KKR’s most successful players.
