In cricket, a bowler has the biggest dream of taking six wickets on six balls of the over. Similarly, any batter’s biggest desire is to hit six 6 ball 6 sixes.
In order to score the most runs in an over, he must hit fours and sixes. Since the number of sixes in an over adds more runs than the number of fours, most sixes will add more runs on the scorecard.
This record for most sixes in an over, like all other batting records, is one of the hardest for any batter to achieve. We all know that hitting a six on every ball needs great focus. Therefore, any batter who hits the most sixes shows complete batting supremacy.
Herschelle Gibbs was the first player to hit Six Sixes in international cricket. Yuvraj Singh was the second to hit six sixes at the International level. Kieron Pollard Was the third player at the international level to hit six sixes.

6 Sixes on 6 Balls In ODI
ODI cricket began in the 1970s, but we did not see aggressive batting until 2000. Despite the fact that some batters score 20 or more runs in one over. However, no one can hit six sixes in six balls.

Herschelle Gibbs
Herschelle Gibbs became the first cricketer to hit 06 sixes in an over at the international level in 2007. This was the venue of Warner Park, and the unlucky bowler was Daan Van Bunge. Gibbs took this golden opportunity to hit six on every ball against a part-time bowler. Daan Van Bunge bowled a mix of bowling targeting the short and full-length areas of the pitch.
He ended this inning on 72 runs for 40 balls which was the fastest in World Cup 2007. Most of Gibbs’ sixes came on the front foot down the wicket. This was a very unique moment for Herschelle Gibbs as he made a special record for South Africa on that day. Additionally, Gibbs was the first international player to hit six sixes in the world.
Jaskartan Malhotra
Jaskartan Malhotra was the second player to hit 6 ball 6 six in the One Day international. Not only did he break the six-sixes record, but he also set the record for the greatest individual score 173 in an ODI for the United States. U.S.A batted first and set the target of 271 runs in 50 overs game against Papua New Guinea. Jaskartan hit six sixes in the last over to bowler Toka. He was announced as the player of the match for his extraordinary innings.
6 Ball 6 Six in T20 Cricket
Due to the arrival of T20 cricket, it is now more common to hit 06 sixes in an over. New cricketers are putting a lot of effort into hitting maximum sixes in an over. Here is the list of players who have hit 06 sixes on 06 balls in the T20I.
Yuvraj Singh
The 2007 T20 World Cup was a joyous occasion for Team India, as they won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup. Not only for team India, it was also a special moment for their players. Among those players, Yuvraj Singh was one of them who really contributed well in T20 WC 2007.
Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in this World Cup and celebrated the special occasion. He hit 06 sixes against Stuart Broad. It was actually a Flintoff-Yuvraj fight that turned towards young Stuart Broad. Yuvraj hit 06 sixes in a row to Stuart Broad on the leg side. It was not an extraordinary effort from Yuvraj Singh but rather a poor bowling display from Stuart Broad.
The majority of Yuvraj’s sixes came towards the leg side on full toss bowling from Broad. Yuvraj flicked those full tosses towards long on and backward square leg using the pace of the bowl. In the end, he was announced as the player of the match. India won that historic match.
Kieron Pollard
After Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs, Kieron Pollard became the third International cricketer to hit six sixes in an over in 2021. He was the first West Indian batter to do so in the history of T20 Cricket. Akila Dananjaya was the unlucky bowler who conceded six sixes on six balls.
Sri Lanka put in a total of 131 runs for the loss of 09 wickets in 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer from Sri lanka who scored 39 runs off 32 balls.
In reply to Sri Lankan batting, it was all Pollard’s show who scored 38 runs on just 11 balls that helped West Indies to win the match. West Indies won the match by 04 wickets. 5th over of the West Indian innings was impressive for Pollard as he hit six sixes on six balls to Akila Dananjaya.
Ross Whitely
T20 Blast is appealing to cricket fans in England in a unique way. This appeal went to another level when Ross Whiteley hit six sixes on six balls for Worcestershire in the 2017 T20 blast. Yorkshire batted first and put in a massive total of 233 runs for the loss of 06 wickets against Worcestershire.
In reply, Ross Whitely played an excellent innings including his six sixes on six balls to Karl Carver. Although Worestershire could not win the match but record of Ross Whitely will be remembered forever.
Ross Whiteley hit those sixes all around the stadium. Due to his superb knock, Worestershire was able to reach a total of 196 in 20 overs.
Hazratullah Zazai
After Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh, Hazratullah Zazai became the third batter to hit six sixes on six balls in 2018. He achieved this feat in the Afghan Premier League 2018 season for his team Kabul Zwanan. Chris Gayle was playing for Balkh Legends in this match and scored 80 runs on 48 balls. So, Balkh legend put a total of 244 runs on the board in 20 overs.
In reply, Hazratullah Zazai of Kabul Zwanan hit six sixes to Abdullah Mazari in an over. Those sixes were very powerful and helped a lot in destroying the opposition’s plans. In the end, Balkh Legends won the match in APL 2018.
Leo Carter
Leo Carter was the first New Zealand player to hit 6 ball 6 six in T20 cricket. He hit 70 runs off 29 balls to help his team win the game. He was playing for Canterbury Kings in the T20 smash of January 2020 against Northern Knights.
Anton Devcich was a part-time bowler who conceded six sixes on six balls. As a result of the superb innings of Leo Carter, Canterbury Kings won the match against Northern Knights.

Sir Garry Sobers
Sir Garry Sobers was one of the brilliant batsmen from West Indies in 1960s. He was far better than the majority of batters of his era for hitting front and back-foot sixes. Hitting huge sixes was a batsman’s hunger at that point in time, and Garry Sobers fulfilled it.
Sir Garry Sobers’ test and ODI strike rate of higher than 60 shows how quick he was as a hitter. Therefore, hitting six sixes on six balls was Gary Sober’s greatest achievement.
Sir Gary Sobers mastered the skill of clearing boundaries with power and ease. He was a pioneer of this art which was copied and improved by many other batters.
He hit 06 sixes on six balls on August 31, 1968 between Nottinghamshire and Glamorgan. He was the first player to hit 06 sixes in an over.
Malcolm Nash was the bowler against whom Sobers struck six sixes in one over. Sobers struck 05 sixes in 05 balls to Nash, and the last ball was pure drama. Sobers hit a lofted shot on last ball and was caught on the boundary. The fielder dropped the catch and ball went past rope of the boundary. Hence, Garry Sobers hit the six on 06th ball to create history in cricket.
Ravi Shastri
Every cricket fan has seen Ravi Shastri as a commentator or Indian cricket team Coach. But no one ever discussed his achievement as a player. It’s not that he was not a capable player, but his career as a commentator overshadowed his successes as a player. But do not worry we will talk about his major success which was hitting six sixes in an over.
Tilak Raj was the bowler whom he hit six sixes in an over. This was the second time in First Class cricket that any batter hit the 06 sixes to a bowler. In reality, it was not even Tilak Raja’s over; Ravi Sashtri maintained excellent form throughout the innings.
Ravi Shastri remained not out after scoring 200 not out on 123 balls. His batting lasted for 113 minutes on the crease which was one of the highest achievements at that time. As a result, of the Superb Innings of Ravi Shastri for Bombay, the match between Bombay and Baroda ended in a draw.
Thisara Pareera
Thisara Pareera became the first Sri Lankan to hit 6 ball 6 six. He achieved this feat against Dilhan Cooray of Bloomfield Cricket Club in SL Premiere League 50-over tournament.
Due to the superb Innings of Thisara Pareera Srilankan Army set a massive total of 318 runs in 41 overs. In reply, Bloomfield was chasing well but rain interrupted the match. The match ended in a draw.
Thisara Pareera’s 52 in 13 balls really did the job well for Srilankan Army to set the massive total.
