Highest Team Total in a PSL Match 2016-2023

PSL is known for producing quality bowlers each season. But some teams produced batters that helped their teams to set the highest team totals in PSL from 2016 to 2023. Each season, every franchise tries to introduce aggressive batters to solidify their batting line. That will eventually help them to set the most runs in each match in PSL.

From 2016 to 2023, 32 times franchises have scored more than 200 in a single batting inning. Lahore Qalandars holds the record for scoring 200+ runs in an inning (8). They achieved this by the previous record of MS that was 7 times. Similarly, Peshawar Zalmi scored two hundred or more runs six times, Quetta Gladiator five times, Islamabad United four times, and Karachi Kings only once.

Most Runs in a PSL Match by a Team

1. Multan Sultans 262/3

Multan Sultans has the highest team total in a PSL match. They scored 262 runs against Quetta Gladiators in 2023 at Rawalpindi. The top order of MS destroyed the bowling lineup of QG.
UAE-based Pakistani Right-hand batter Usman Khan smashes a PSL hundred and scores 120 runs with a Strike rate of 279. Muhammad Rizwan and Tim David also contributed 40+ runs in the team total.

Multan Sultans is the trendsetter of aggressive batting in PSL. Their opening pair, Muhammad Rizwan and Shan Masood is known for providing solid starts that help other batters to play aggressively.

2. Quetta Gladiators 253/8

Quetta Gladiators has the 2nd highest team total in PSL and the highest total in runs chase. They score 253 runs while chasing a total of 262 set by Multan Sultans in PSL 2023.
Martin Guptil provides a solid start by scoring 37 runs on just 14 balls. Umair Yousaf and Iftikhar Ahmad caught the opportunity, and both made a half-century with a strike rate of more than 170.
In the end, Omar Akmal played an unbelievable inning of 28 runs on ten balls, but unfortunately, QG lost the game by eight runs.

3. Lahore Qalandars 241/3

Lahore Qalandars score the most runs in a PSL match in 2023. They set the highest target in PSL against Peshawar Zalmi by scoring 241 runs at Lahore.

After losing the early wicket of Tahir Baig, Fakhar Zaman, and Abdullah Shafiq take control of the game and attack Zalmi with some unorthodox shots. Fakhar Zaman was unlucky and lost his wicket at 96 to Rovman Powell. Abdullah Shafiq scored 75 runs with a strike rate of 183, and Sam Billings 47.

4. Islamabad United 238/3

In 2019, Islamabad United scored 4th most runs in a PSL match against Lahore Qalands. Shaheen Shah Afridi attacked IU and succeeded in taking the wicket of danger man Luke Rochi in the first over.

But this effort vanished when the bat of Cameron Delport started scoring runs. He scored a quick hundred (117 runs) with a strike rate of 196 and did not lose his wickets. Chadwick Walton and Asif Ali support him at the end and set a big total of 238 runs.

5. Peshawar Zalmi 232/6

Peshawar Zalmi’s highest score in a match is 232. But you will be surprised that after scoring many runs, you still lost the game.

Because they were chasing the highest match total of PSL (247) history that IU set, Peshawar Zalmi batters did not lose hope after seeing a big total, but they tried hard to chase it down. Kamran Akmal scored fifty three runs, and Shoaib Malik showed his experience with a quick 68 on 38 balls. West Indian batter Sherfane Rutherford hit four sixes on eight balls.

But unfortunately, they failed to reach the total and lost the game by 15 runs.

6. Islamabad United 229/4

United scored 229 runs against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2023 at National Stadium Karachi. The opening pair: Alex Hales and Paul Stirling, provide quick runs in power play. Hales stayed on the crease for just nine balls and lost his wicket to Faulkner after scoring 22 runs.
Colin Munro joins Paul Stirling and gets the total to 100 runs in just 7.2 overs. But Muhammad Nawaz broke this partnership at 102 runs.
Colin Munro scored 72 runs not, and Azam Khan lost his wicket to Shahid Afridi at 65.

7. Multan Sultans 222/3

Peshawar Zalmi faced Multan Sultan at Karachi Stadium in 2022, and Sultan beat them pretty hard that day. Muhammad Rizwan and Tim David played a vital role in setting up 222 runs.
Shan Masood and Muhammad Rizwan made an opening partnership of 85 runs; then Shan Masood lost his wicket, but Rizwan continued scoring runs till the 19th over. During this, Sohaib Maqsood lost his wicket, but Tim Daivd’s fastest fifty helped to make this total.

8. Islamabad United 220/6

United’s dominating this list with the fourth entry. This time they set 2nd biggest total of PSL 2023 against Quetta Gladiators. After taking early wickets, Gurbaz, Duessen, and Shadab Queta failed to restrict them.
Because big man Azam Khan plays an unbelievable inning of 97 runs on 42 balls that eventually cost QG 220 runs.

Most Runs in a PSL Match by a Team in PSL 2023

Multan Sultans score the highest team total in a match in PSL 2023. They score 263 runs against Quetta Gladiators. QG fought well and scored 253 runs but failed to chase this total.
