The first finalist of the World Test Championship 2021-23 was decided after the victory in the third match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India in March 2023. There was serious suspense about who will be the second finalist of WTC 2023.
All eyes were on the Test series between the winner of WTC 2019 -21 New Zealand and Sri Lanka in March 2023. Sri Lanka started this series with great hope for qualifying as the second finalist in WTC 2023. But things went wrong for SL after their defeat from New Zealand.
Hence, things cleared after this result. India qualified for the second time for the WTC final. Therefore, India and Australia will play the final of the World Test Championship on 7th June at Lords.
WTC 2023 Final Date and Time
The World Test Championship started with Pataudi Trophy between England and India in 2021. In these two years, each team played at least twelve games and the top two teams, England and of the WTC 2023 point table, qualified for the final. The final of WTC 2023 will be played from June 7 to June 11, 2023, at Oval Cricket Ground.
The WTC final match will begin at 10:00 a.m. local time at Oval and 2:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time.
World Test Championship Squad
Aussie Cricket Board and BCCI have announced 15 member squad for the final of WTC squad. Indian team is going with the same squad that played Border-Gavaskar Trophy expect one change. As Shreyas Iyer was rolled out from IPL due to a back injury and going through treatment in the UK. Ajinkya Rahane will replace him due to his current form.

The 15-member squads of Indian Team consist of seven proper batter, three all-rounder, and five bowlers. Rohit Sharma will be leading Indian Team as captain in the WTC final. Although BCCI didn’t announce the vice captain to date, it is accepted that Chetshwar Pujara will continue with this rule. He is also the highest runs scorer for India in WTC 2021-23. Srikar Bharat is the only regular wicketkeeper included in this final.
