After several disagreements with BCCI and the Asian Cricket Council, PCB finally announced the schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup. Due to administrative changes at PCB, the schedule for the Asia Cup 2023 was delayed. Former PCB chairman Najam Saithi was chairing the meeting from PCB, but he was removed due to political reasons and Zaka Ashraf took charge.
All of the 2023 Asia Cup games will be played in four different venues in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Four of the matches will be contested in the Multan Cricket Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. All other matches will be played in Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy and Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The opening game of the 2023 Asia Cup will take place between Pakistan and Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium on 30th September. India will play their first game against Pakistan At Kandy Stadium. Pakistan is set to host three group games and one Super Four match. While Sri Lanka will host nine games, including five super four games in Colombo and three group games in Kandy. On September 17, 2023, the Asia Cup Final will be held at the Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The top four teams will make it to the Super 4, where each team will face the other. The Asia Cup’s Super 4 stage will begin on September 6 in Lahore, where A1 will face off against B2. Pakistan is represented by A1, India by A2, Sri Lanka by B1, and Bangladesh by B2. If any of them fails to advance to the next round, Nepal will take the place of India or Pakistan, and Afghanistan will take the place of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
For a few years, the Asia Cup was played in T20I format. However, ACC has decided to play in the 50-over format this year, which will help in preparation for the ODI World Cup in 2023.
